Latest on Lakers' trade deadline activity
The Lakers are particularly active in trade talks with only a couple weeks to go before the trade deadline.
With only a couple weeks and some change to go before the NBA Trade Deadline, the Lakers are once again one of the league’s most active teams. Whether anything will come to fruition as a result of all of those conversations is another thing altogether, but Rob Pelinka and the rest of the front office is definitely trying to improve a roster that currently sits at 22-22 and ninth in the west.
To this point, the most pervasive rumors have swirled around talks between the Lakers and Atlanta Hawks to work out a deal that would send Dejounte Murray to L.A. and pair him in the backcourt with Austin Reaves. As I reported last week, the team have been talking about this a while but those negotiations stalled a little more than a week ago.
That said, I’m told talks resumed a couple days ago and Murray is still the Lakers’ primary focus this deadline.
The issues here are twofold. Atlanta isn’t interested in D’Angelo Russell or the player option he has for next season. Los Angeles is even less interested in sending Reaves to Atlanta for Murray.
